COMING SOON: Convenience Store, Gas Station and Mini Casino Construction Begins
(August 8, 2015) –It’s been a long road and finally the ground breaking ceremony commenced this morning for the convenience store, gas station and mini casino project. Our partners from CEIBA Legal, Pinnacle Bank, PNE Construction and Sunflower Consulting as well as family and friends joined us this morning as we move forward with this exciting new endeavor.
The 4,800 sq. ft. convenience store and gas station is scheduled to have a grand opening February 2016. It will feature a wide array of modern and innovative amenities, including the area’s first drive-through window for cigarettes and tobacco, a walk-in “beer cave,” an open-air cooler, stocked daily with freshly made soups, sandwiches and other popular grab-and-go food items. The competitively priced gas station features four gas pumps for automobiles and an additional two pumps for RVs and semi-trucks.
The convenience store’s adjacent gaming room, popularly referred to as the “mini-casino,” will be the Tribe’s second gaming facility. The 50 slot machine facility will offer gaming to patrons 18 years and older, a smoke-free environment and, with its easy-on-easy-off access to highway 101, will provide customers with a convenient gaming experience unmatched in Mendocino County.
The new store will be the first Tribal business owned and operated by Coyote Valley Retail Enterprises (CVRE), a corporate subdivision of the Coyote Economic Development Corporation (CEDCO). The Tribe formed CEDCO and CVRE to promote Tribal economic development, Tribal member employment and self-sufficiency. The Tribe expects the store will provide 12-16 new jobs, and all profits from the store will be used for the benefit of the Tribe and its Tribal members.
